Enterprise City is a hands-on economics program originally created for Middle and High School that combines a 40 hour curriculum with a 4.5-hour field trip to a state-of-the-art city, run by students. A partnership established in 2004 between Enterprise City and the Fieldtrip Resource Center (FRC) enables individual home school students to also participate in the simulation experience. Through collaborative efforts we have been able to routinely offer adapted seamless programs for individual home school students participating from their homes or in small groups and co-ops, from all around New England. Working together, educators at Enterprise City and the Fieldtrip Resource Center have revised the original classroom curriculum and on-site experience by tailoring the learning objectives to create a flexible education experience that broadens the participation age range and incorporates parent-led instruction from home, on-line elections and an extended full day student participation at the city. The home school student registration fee of $75.00 includes: Enterprise City Instructional Materials (Home School Version), Curriculum Training and Support (as needed), Group /Co-op Instructional Outline, On-line Election Experience, Adapted Job Application Process, Parent Volunteer Training, Extended Full Day Field Trip Visit to Enterprise City, and A Certificate of 45-hour Program Completion for each student. Enterprise City is offered to home school students in the fall and in the spring. The success of the program is dependent on a minimum of 80 home school students participating during each visit. Please contact FRC@fieldtripresourcecenter.com or call 978-741-7449 for additional information about upcoming program dates and registration deadlines. Home school families do not need to be members of the FRC to participate in the Enterprise City program. The Fieldtrip Resource Center does offer its member families a discounted registration rate and program rebates. |
